The partnership between the leading academic medical institutions aims to combine expertise in patient care, leading edge research and medical innovation.
‘Our health systems face common challenges and opportunities,' said Lawrence Tallon, deputy chief executive, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
‘We seek to collaborate with the very best in international healthcare for the benefit of our patients.
‘Whilst we operate in different countries and contexts, we are completely united by our commitment to the highest-quality patient care, enabled by leading-edge research and innovation.'
The collaboration will cover: developing potential areas of collaborative research and joint educational initiatives to advance medical science and training; jointly facilitating commercialisation of new medical technologies and supporting the next generation of healthcare startups; and addressing increasing demand for specialised, high-quality care in the UK by promoting innovative care models that prioritise accessibility, excellence and patient-focused solutions.
As part of the collaboration, Cedars-Sinai has opened a clinic in the Royal Brompton & Harefield Specialist Care building providing patients with access to specialists from the UK and the US.
